Three criminals arrested after firing in Gurugram: Police

The Crime Branch team of Gurugram Police arrested a notorious criminal and his two associates after an encounter on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said.

The suspects have been identified as Arif (28), Arif alias Mandal (27), resident of Palwal and Rashid alias Yusuf alias Kake (33), resident of Nuh.

According to the police, Rashid was involved in 49 cases, including gang-related activities, murder, attempt to murder, robbery, attack on police team and ATM theft.

Meanwhile, two cases of attempt to murder and cow smuggling have been registered against Arif alias Mandal and one case of cow smuggling has been registered against accused Arif, police said.

Police said that on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the crime branch teams of Farrukhnagar and Sohna received information about the theft of a cow in a canter vehicle from village Ullawas in Sector-65 area of ​​Gurugram.

During the search, police teams spotted a canter near Medwas village, which was loaded with two cows. When the police team signaled the canter driver to stop the vehicle, the canter driver increased the speed of the vehicle and tried to run away.

“Police teams chased the canter and surrounded it near village Medwas, after which the accused got down from the canter and fired at the police party, in which one bullet hit the window of the police vehicle. The police team warned the accused not to do so and warned them by firing in the air, but the police warning had no effect on them, then the police teams opened fire in response to protect themselves, and one The bullet hit the legs of both the accused,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP (Crime).

Later, the police team caught the three accused from the spot and both the injured were admitted to the hospital for further treatment.

In connection with the incident, a case has been registered against the three accused under relevant sections at Sector-65 police station.

A total of 10 rounds of bullets were fired during the encounter, out of which four were fired by the accused and six by the police. The police team recovered a canter, a country-made pistol, one used by the accused to commit the crime. The pistol, one live cartridge, 10 empty shell cartridges, a cow and a calf,” Dahiya said.

Police said the canter used by the accused to commit the crime was stolen from Bilaspur police station, Gurugram area on December 24 and the recovered cow and calf were stolen from a dairy in Ullawas village.

“Rashid, along with his associates, had carried out the incident of cow smuggling in Gurugram in 2009. In this incident, a policeman of Gurugram Police was martyred. Rashid and Arif are undergoing treatment. After being discharged from the hospital, the accused Dahiya said, “In the above case, arrest will be made as per rules and a thorough investigation will be conducted.”
