Tesco is ready to start a test, where customers will be given to finish food for free at the end of the day as the British supermarket chain attempts to cut food wastage. Tesco is Britain’s largest supermarket chain, with 27.8 percent market share, with 3,700 domestic stores and 750 more abroad. Supermarket giants, with other chains, promised to reduce food waste by 2030.

A company spokesperson said, “This test will allow customers to take any remaining yellowish items for free at the end of the day, as they have been first introduced to donations and colleagues.”

Tesco already donates the termination of food for charity and foodbank. It said that the charity and shop workers will get the first priority when the customers are introduced. Earlier there was a maximum decrease in the maximum 90 percent price in foods affecting a yellow sticker.

“We are constantly looking for innovative new ways to reduce food waste. In all our stores we provide unusual surplus food to donations and community groups every month, donating millions of foods.”

In 2023/24, Supermarkets achieved a 61 percent decrease in full emissions from their operations compared to 2015, more than the target of 60 percent of 60 percent.

“We have done this by using energy and refrigeration more efficiently, and by adopting 100 percent renewable power in the entire group.”
