Samsung is considered the exclusive supplier of OLED display for the first foldable iPhone of Apple, widely called the iPhone fold. This is a remarkable step, especially considering the apple’s general strategy of working with several suppliers to maintain the supply chain balance and reduce the cost. However, when it comes to foldable screen technology, Apple is being all-in on quality. According to a report by Business KoreaSamsung display experience and proven ability to reduce visible creases on foldable panels played a major role in Apple’s decision. In fact, the report states that Samsung has a technical edge in reducing the screen crease, defeating LG display and BOE and won the Apple Over – two companies who supplied Apple with a panel for the first iPhone and iPad.
The inner source quoted in the report said, “For Apple, which prefer quality at price when selecting components suppliers, Samsung was the only viable option.” Apple’s priority seems to produce a foldable device with an innocent, premium display-something that is struggling with the initial foldable phone of other brands due to the issues of screen crease and long-term durability.
As the iPhone fold can look like, the report states that it will adopt a book-style folding design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z fold series. When folded, users are expected to receive a 5.5-inch cover screen-the way you will find on a regular iPhone-while highlighting the device, revealing an internal performance of 7.8 inches like an iPad mini. Interestingly, instead of using face ID for authentication, the Apple can integrate touch ID in the side button. This step will help Apple to save the internal location and keep the device thin.
Talking of slimness, leaks also indicate that the iPhone can be one of the world’s thinnest foldable phones – just when it appears 4.5 mm, and about 9 mm when folded. To make it possible, Apple is reportedly using titanium chassis and a special material called liquid metal in the hinge. This unique Kaj design is expected to improve durability and reduce further. According to sources familiar with the case, the material is being supplied by Dongguan EONTEC.
Battery life is also expected to be a major focus for Apple. The company can use a high -density battery to support large displays without compromising the battery performance. While the exact battery glasses are still wrapped, it should allow the device to run through an entire day of use.
Although the foldable iPhone is not expected to be launched by the end of 2026, the company is making stable progress. Large -scale production may begin by the end of next year. Initial expectations suggest that Apple may produce more than 15 million units annually, which is initially higher than the start of 9 million units.
One thing is certain – when the Apple foldable phone enters the market, it will aim to do so in style. However, with a rumor initial price of about $ 2,300 (about Rs 1,97,200), the iPhone fold at the end may be a niche device for a select group of buyers who want the latest and largest from Apple.
