Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will allegedly increase RAM with many other changes. According to GFHK Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu, both iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will have 12GB RAM, which is from 8GB found in the iPhone 16 Pro model. This upgrade is expected to increase the performance of equipment, especially in terms of AI capabilities and multitasking. The iPhone 17 series is expected to be launched around September after Apple’s general release schedule.

The latest note of PU, as stated by 9to5MAC, highlighted that a change in 12GB LPDDR5 RAM will contribute to an estimated 100 million new iPhone units to contribute 3.5 percent year-on-year growth to smartphone DRAM content in new iPhone units. This is not the first time Pue has predicted RAM boost for Apple’s premium devices. Back in May 2024, he suggested uniform upgradation, and in October, he reiterated his claim, stating that increased memory would improve performance for Apple Intelligence.

Interestingly, PU is not the only analyst weighing it. Industry expert Ming-Chi Kuo also shared his views in August 2024, although he suggested that the RAM upgrade iPhone 17 Pro Max could be limited to Max. Despite this, PU is confident of its prediction, which states that both Pro models – 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max – will benefit from increased memory.

The RAM upgrade is not the only change required in the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. The PU has also indicated on the improvement in the camera, claiming that the devices will have a 48-megapixel telephoto rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera.

Beyond RAM and cameras, the iPhone 17 Pro model is rumored for the convenience of a re -designed camera module. Instead of the current triangular layout, three rear cameras will be placed with round corners in a rectangular camera bar. This design can give a new look to the devices, expecting changes to devices. Other possible upgrades include an aluminum frame from the titanium, a narrow dynamic island and an apple-design Wi-Fi 7 chip.

For the standard iPhone 17 model, the iPhone 17 Air – Slim variant with a rumor that is set to replace the plus model – a sear camera is expected to sport a rear camera placed in a sleek camera strip. This bar-style camera module-If you can call it-to some extent that we have already seen on the Google Pixel phone. Standard iPhone 17 may not join the redesign party. According to the leak, it will stick closely to the design of the iPhone 16, maintaining the familiar vertical camera bump.
