JP Singh (John Abraham) is the Deputy Commissioner of India in Pakistan. When Uzma Ahmed (Sadia Kateb) seeks refuge in the High Commission, the story stops. She is an Indian woman who is stuck in a forced marriage in Pakistan. JP Singh took a step to find out whether Uzma is faking or is it a real matter. Once he knows that Uzma has not left an Sob story, her only mission is to help her return to India.
The film follows her strategic tricks to return home to her daughter. Whether JP Singh is successful in his mission, with Sushma Swaraj (Revathi) or not? Watch the film to find out.
What works for diplomat
The intention behind the diplomat shines. Shivam Nair’s vision avoids jingoism, which is fresh. It focuses on the subtle power of diplomacy instead. Cinematography is particularly well done and it stands in all high moments of the film. Cinematography catchs the mood of stress well. John’s restrained performance as JP Singh adds depth to the story. The film seems grounded, not over-the-top. The emotional arch of Sadia hooks you but only in parts. Finally, the riveting background score helps to build stress without shaking scenes.
What does not work for diplomat
There is a lack of adventure in diplomatic. It becomes very blurred at times and lacks the necessary enthusiasm for a thriller. Pacing drugs, especially in the first half. Some scenes feel stretched, testing their patience. There are parts in the film where JP Singh is talking with his son and he is so random that he breaks the flow of the film. The editing could have been tight. Some infections feel suddenly or slow. The screenplay, while smart and clearly realistic because it is based on true events, lacks Panchal moments. It is a thriller that does not always thrill. The stakes do not collide with great difficulty. As a result, the part of the climax is not how it should be, even if it has the best moment of the film.

Performance in diplomatic
John Abraham gave a respectable performance as JP Singh. He is calm, composed and subtle. Sadia Kheteb in the role of Uzma is civilized. However, she manages to bring a reality feeling vulnerability. Revathi adds credibility to the film Sushma Swaraj. His brief role leaves a mark. Kumud Mishra and Sharib Hashmi do well in their small roles and therefore do other supportive actors. Finally, Jagjit Sandhu in the form of Tariq is scary and effective.
Final decision of diplomat
Diplomatic is a mixed bag. It is a strong heart and a great vision. Shivam Nair tries to tell a smart, human story. Displays are generally good. The visual and background score leaves not much to complain about the score. But the film is not exciting enough. Slow speed and brand treatment hurt it. It is a thriller that forgets the adventure. Editing and pacing issues do not help either. Nevertheless, it is worth a clock for its intention. Fans of cool drama can enjoy it.
