Taking a significant step towards enhancing road safety, BluSmart, a leading electric cab service, is launching an unprecedented feature in its app. The company’s CEO Anirudh Arun announced that for the first time on Indian roads, cab drivers will get real-time feedback on their driving behaviour. This industry-first feature will curb reckless driving and improve the overall safety of passengers.

Road safety is a critical issue in India, especially in busy urban centres where accidents are frequent due to the high number of vehicles. Sharing the new development on LinkedIn, Arun pointed out that about 71 percent of road accidents in India are caused by human error. These errors include speeding, sudden braking, overtaking from the wrong side and ignoring traffic signals. He explained that BlueSmart’s new feature leverages data from cloud-connected cars, which is rapidly processed through an intelligent feedback loop. This real-time data helps identify and correct potentially dangerous driving practices on the spot, making roads safer for everyone.

A LinkedIn user claimed that he has seen this feature for the first time, but he has some concerns about it. The user said, “I also experienced the same. On one hand, it was very pleasant that safety concerns have been taken into account, but in the afternoon when there is no traffic and you are in a hurry, speeding over 70 is not allowed on the highway. But anyway, safety first should always be the motto.”
