The Redmi K80 comes with major upgrades in performance and battery life compared to its predecessor. The model is powered by last year’s flagship chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a 6,550mAh battery. That’s right, 6,550mAh, which is 1,550mAh more than the K70.
Like its Pro sibling, the K80 has a new dual-loop vapor chamber that helps keep the Snapdragon cool (and it cools the camera too). The phone can be configured with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and anywhere from 256GB to 1TB of storage.
Xiaomi says the 6,550mAh battery is only enough for two days of use – they must have hired some heavy users, as that’s a huge capacity. The phone is equipped with a P3 chip (no wireless support) and G1 battery management chip for 90W charging. The wired charging speed is lower than the K70 (120W), but still quite fast.
The K80 has several major upgrades over the K70. The display now has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader instead of optical. And the phone is stronger than ever with IP68 dust and water resistance (up to 2.5 meters underwater) and Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
The display is the same as the Pro, a 6.67” OLED panel with 12-bit colors (HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid support). It reaches 3,200 nits at its peak and features DC dimming. It’s a faster QHD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and new materials that make it 8% more efficient than the previous generation.

The main camera matches the Pro with a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 sensor (1/1.55”) and an f/1.6 lens with OIS. It can record 8K video at 24fps or 4K and 1080p video at up to 60fps. The ultra-wide camera is a basic 8MP unit and there’s no dedicated telephoto. At least the selfie camera got a bump to 20MP.
Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 7 (2.4GHz and 5GHz), and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Redmi K80 is available in China from today, here it is on the official online store. There are four colorways and five memory configurations to choose from: 12/256GB for CNY 2,500 ($345/€330/₹29,000), 16/256GB for CNY 2,700, 12/512GB for CNY 2,900, 16/256GB for CNY 3,200. For 512GB and 16GB /CNY 1TB Rs 3,600.
