While the new Malayalam films are setting benchmarks across India, there is no mood to slow down the latest thriller of superstar Mohanlal. The film released on Friday, 25 April, made a good of Rs 5.10 crore on the first day of its release. If the day was good, the day two were even better, it brought a gross of Rs 7 crore. While riding a high ride on goodwill, Thudaram did not show any indication of exhaustion as it made an effective of Rs 9 crore on its third day, Sunday.
Usually, Malayalam films take a dip on the first working day. However, Thudaram has broken that trend. It is interesting to note that the film is also working in the Telugu states, which attracts both critics and audiences with its panoramic story and screenplay.
The trade circle is shocked by Thudram’s box office performance despite lack of publicity. Although some people say that the film feels much and more largely in treatment, many are comparing between its effects and Mohanlal’s famous Drisum trilogy. Even in the week of the week, houses are crowded due to emotional depth and strong middle class background.
Without normal marketing noise, Thudram is writing his blockbuster story. If the speed continues, it would not be surprising to see this thriller March in a club of Rs 100 crore confidently. Mohanlal, once again proves why he is a heartbeat at the box office of Kerala.
