Jason Sanjay, son of actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay, is set to make his directorial debut under the Lyca Productions banner.

This announcement marks an important milestone for Jason Sanjay as he steps into the Tamil film industry. In the announcement video on the official YouTube channel of Lyca Productions, it was revealed that Jason’s debut film will star Sandeep Kishan in the lead role, with music composed by Thaman S.

The announcement video was interesting, covering several elements in its one-minute runtime. The highlight of the video is Jason Sanjay and Sandeep Kishan in the director and hero’s seats respectively, along with Thaman’s captivating music in the background.

While the collaboration between the young director and Laika Productions was initially announced for 2023, the project faced a year-long delay before it could be officially unveiled. Presented by Subaskaran, the project has been tentatively named Jason Sanjay 01.

Given Jason Sanjay’s lineage, his entry into cinema has already created a buzz. She pursued a Film Production Diploma at Toronto Film School (2018-2020), followed by a BA (Hons) in Screenwriting in London between 2020-2022. So far, Jason has made a short film called Pull the Trigger.

GKM Tamil Kumaran of Lyca Productions said in a press release, “When Jason Sanjay presented the narrative, we felt something new and most importantly, it had the USP to attract pan-India attention.” Sandeep Kishan also shared the news of his collaboration with Jason Sanjay.

Sandeep Kishan was last seen in Dhanush’s Raayan which released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

While the announcement video revealed that the film will go on floors soon, the rest of the cast and crew is yet to be announced.
