Actress Tanisha Mukherjee reveals the physical transformation she underwent for the 2005 film Neil ‘n’ NikkiRevealing that the intense fitness regimen ultimately led to hormonal imbalance issues.

In a recent interview with maternal uncleTanisha said that filmmaker Aditya Chopra had asked her to completely transform her appearance for the role, prompting her to follow a strict workout and diet routine.

Talking about her first look test, Tanishaa remembered that she was asked to be fit. “My first photo session Neil ‘n’ NikkiI had all these love handles, and he was like, ‘No, you can’t look like that. You need to stay fit,” she said.

He said the feedback inspired him to fully commit to the change. “After that, I tried my best and changed my body because I was so focused on reaching that goal. Then he said, ‘Yes, it’s Nikki,'” she said.

Tanisha said that she became highly disciplined about her workouts and diet, following a certain routine once she discovered what worked for her. However, maintaining that level of physical conditioning over time took a toll on his health.

“If you try to maintain it, you will have a hormonal imbalance, which is what happened to me,” she said.

Directed by Arjun Sablok and produced under Yash Raj Films, Neil ‘n’ Nikki Tanishaa starred opposite Uday Chopra. The film received critical acclaim upon its release in 2005.

Reflecting on the response, Tanisha said that she took the criticism fairly and did not take it personally. “I went back and watched the film to understand why the audience felt the way it did,” she said, adding that although she was satisfied with her performance at the time, she now believes some scenes could have been done differently.

On responsibility and filmmaking

Tanisha also talked about the role of the director in shaping the performance, saying that actors work within the framework set by the filmmaker. He said he never blamed himself for the film’s failure, emphasizing that storytelling was a collaborative process.
