The final trailer for Supergirl shows Kara Zor-El teaming up with Ruth while clashing with Superman’s extensive legacy. It also brings Jason Momoa’s Lobo into the DC Universe and expands the story of Krypton and the House of El.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, the latest footage from the upcoming superhero film introduces Kara’s story ahead of its June 26 release and also previews Jason Momoa’s cinematic debut as Lobo.
The trailer takes a broader look at the film’s central conflict, which sees Kara and Ruthie Marie Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, emerging as unlikely allies against a common enemy. It also points to the film’s ties to the broader DC Universe, including Kara’s dynamics with Superman and the ongoing story based around Krypton.

In the opening scene, Kara, referring to Kal-El aka Superman, says, “That’s the thing, my cousin and I have very different ideas about what it takes to be a hero. He sees the good in everyone while I see the truth.” The film points to Kara being an aggressive version of the superhero who goes against traditional norms when combating villains.

David Krumholtz, who plays Kara’s father Zor-El, said in a November 2025 interview that the new film will add more details to that story, as reported screen bounce. He said, “I’ll just say that I’m thrilled to be the next part to tell the story of Krypton and shed more light on the House of El.”
David Corenswet is also a part of this super girl cast, after it was confirmed in 2025 that he would return as Superman in Kara’s solo film. During the teaser trailer launch at CCXP 2025, Alcock and Gillespie said that at least one scene of DC’s two cousins will play out entirely in Kryptonians.
In addition to this summer’s release, the film also has its share of DCU Chapter 1: Gods and MonstersFurther productions of the character are already being considered after 2026. DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow is currently shooting in Atlanta, and Gunn has confirmed that Supergirl will appear in that film.
Whether the 2026 project will set up Alcock’s return next year is not yet clear. However, 2027 will be the third year in a row that the Kryptonian cousins will appear together.
