Stranger Things 5 Ending Explained: Was Vecna Lost? All about XI picks and Hawkins’ future

After 5 epic seasons featuring Hawkins and the 9 year olds from The Upside Down, the world of Stranger Things has finally come to an end. These were Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink), Steve Harington (Joe Keery), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) and Erica Sinclair (Priya Ferguson) vs. Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) aka One aka Henry. Here’s what happened in the third and final segment of Stranger Things 5.

Did Vecna survive the final battle?

Fans of the show were looking forward to an emotional farewell as they were able to see the final performance of Dungeons & Dragons on screen. Eleven, who was willing to give her life for the safety of her friends and family, was able to do so, even at the cost of her survival in the human world. As Henry confronts his childhood and looks at his troubled past, Vecna is defeated by his gang of friends.

Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper bid farewell to Will and find their happily ever after. She accepts his proposal and also manages to say goodbye to her ex Bob (Sean Astin). Meanwhile, he finds himself returning to his post at the police station, and an offer to Montauk awaits him.

What happened to Mike and Eleven?

The biggest loss was Mike, who saw Vecna’s end up to the last moment, but also dealt with Eleven’s absence – a controversial finale for the character. She wondered if, far away from Hawkins, she was able to survive while making a new life for herself, while the visions of her demise were merely one last hallucination of Kali. The show’s producers have neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of his survival, leaving it up to the audience. However, a slight hope of her survival, supported by Mike’s encouragement, is all Star’s fans need.

Where do the rest of the cast go from here?

The Upside Down is destroyed, while Mike turns to writing for his career, choosing to document the madness of his life and begin telling his stories to the world. Dustin is valedictorian of his class 18 months in the future. Max and Lucas go out of town and live happily ever after after their final date.

Steve, Jonathan, Nancy, and Robin still meet monthly to socialize, despite going their separate ways. Steve is the baseball coach at the school, Robin attends Smith College in Massachusetts, Jonathan becomes a filmmaker while studying at New York University, and Nancy leaves Emerson College to work at the Boston Herald.

Will’s big coming-of-age moment takes him to New York, where he rediscovers himself and builds more confidence. Finally, after being destroyed by the Swarm in the final battle, Vecna and, Henry, meet a long-awaited end. The D&D campaign is taken over by Holly (Nell Fisher), Derek and their friends.
