Lead, lead alloy and plastic additives maker Pondy Oxides & Chemicals has set July 21 (Tuesday) as the record date for its 2:5 stock split, effectively making today (Monday) the last day for interested investors to buy shares in the company to be eligible for the corporate action.

As per SEBI’s T+1 settlement cycle, investors should purchase shares of a company at least one trading day before the record date so that the shares are deposited in their demat accounts on time and they are eligible for corporate action. Accordingly, today is the last chance for investors to buy shares so that they are deposited into their accounts by Tuesday, in order to be eligible for the stock split.

All about Pondy Oxides and Chemicals Stock Split

Pondy Oxides and Chemicals, which claims to be India’s largest producer of secondary lead and a leader in lead alloys, announced in May that its board of directors had approved the company’s Rs. 5 shares with a face value of Rs. Approved the plan of demerger into five shares with a face value of 2.

The company said the rationale behind the stock split was to increase the liquidity of its shares and encourage participation by small investors by making the shares more affordable to buy. After the share split, the authorized capital of the company of 4.03 crore shares will be divided into 10.07 crore shares.

Pondy Oxides & Chemicals announced earlier this month that it has set July 21 (Tuesday) as the record date for determining shareholders’ eligibility for stock split.

What this means for Pondy Oxides and Chemicals shareholders

While the number of outstanding shares increases, the overall market capitalization of the company remains unchanged. A lower share price can make the stock more accessible to retail investors, potentially improving participation and trading volume.

If an investor owns 200 shares of Pondy Oxides and Chemicals, each worth Rs 100, he will see it split into 500 shares worth Rs 40 each. However, there will be no change in the total value of his holding, which is Rs 20,000.

Pondy Oxides and Chemicals Share Price

Shares of Pondy Oxides & Chemicals fell more than 5% in a week but rose more than 1% in a month. The stock is down 11% overall so far in 2026.

Over the long term, the stock has returned 37% in one year and over 580% in three years. The market capitalization of the company is Rs. 4,120 crores.
