1. Formal launch of Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29 begins
Superstar Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli are collaborating for the first time with a film tentatively titled SSMB29 or SSRMB. With the visionary director and the superstar joining hands for the first time, the makers have officially kicked off the film with the formal launch.
The launch of his film was held on January 2, 2025 with a puja ceremony only for the cast and crew of the film. Since the shooting of the film is expected to begin in April 2025, it is likely to run till the end of 2026.
Furthermore, Pinkvilla had exclusively reported that the makers have roped in actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas to play the lead role. According to a source close to the development, the film is expected to showcase a never-before-seen story that combines jungle adventure with espionage.
2. Yash wrote a heartfelt request to fans ahead of his birthday
KGF star Yash is currently working on his film Toxic with director Geetu Mohandas. As the actor is set to celebrate his 39th birthday on January 8, the actor wrote a post in which he requested his fans to refrain from obscene celebrations.
Due to the tragic incidents that have happened over the years, Yash decided to make a formal request to followers through his social media handle. In his post, the actor said, “It’s time for us to change the language of love, especially when it comes to my birthday celebrations. The expression of your love should not be in grand ceremonies and celebrations.”
The actor also said that this year he will be busy going out of town to shoot on his birthday, but assured that the wishes of his fans will always reach him.

3. Naga Vamsi sparks debate with veteran producer Boney Kapoor
In a recent roundtable interview with Galatta Plus, India’s leading producers including Boney Kapoor, Naga Vamsi, Archana Kalpathy and many more were caught talking about Indian cinema and its market.
During the conversation, Lucky Baskar producer Naga Vamsi commented on Bollywood cinema and said, “It may sound really harsh. We South Indians have changed the way we look at Bollywood cinema. Bollywood is stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. You saw the change with Baahubali, RRR, Animal and Jawan.
This led to a heated argument with producer Boney Kapoor, in which various comments were made including the change in audience tastes over the years.
4. Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan starrer Vidamuyarchi Pongal postponed from 2025
Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan starrer Vidamuyarchi has been in the news ever since it was announced to release in theaters soon. However, much to the disappointment of fans, the much-awaited film was postponed.
The film was earlier announced to release on Pongal 2025, but due to unavoidable reasons the makers had to take this decision. There is still no new update from the makers regarding the release of the film. The action thriller flick directed by Magizh Thirumeni also stars Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra and Aarav in lead roles.

5. Trailer release of Ram Charan and Kiara Advani starrer Game Changer
After a long gap, global star Ram Charan is all set to hit the theaters with the film Game Changer on Sankranthi this year. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers held a trailer launch event, which was attended by SS Rajamouli as the chief guest. The film is a political action thriller that features the actor as an honest IAS officer who attempts to fight corruption in the political system.
Playing a dual role in this father-son saga, Kiara Advani plays the lead role and romantic lead in the film directed by Shankar after Indian 2. Apart from the lead roles, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Anjali, Samuthirakani and many other actors in lead roles.
