Sony unveiled its Xperia 1 VIII flagship with a new design, but the main features and ideas are the same. It has a new 1/1.56-inch telephoto camera – four times larger sensor than the Mark VII and with four times the resolution.
The new 48MP tele is locked to 2.9x (70mm). The other two cameras are the same – 24mm f/1.9 and 16mm f/2.0. Add a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, just 12GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery.
The Xperia 1 VIII is on sale for €1,500/£1,400 for the base 12/512GB configuration.
Xiaomi has confirmed that we are getting the 17 Max. The phone will be launched in China later this month. It will have a flat 6.9-inch screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, and an 8,000mAh battery with 100W charging. It is said to have a triple-rear camera setup with a 200MP 1/1.4-inch main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto and another 50MP ultrawide camera.

However, the tele camera loses its continuous focus capability.

This is a pre-order only – the phone won’t actually ship until June 19th.
