Sonakshi Sinha is enjoying one of the best years of her life, both personally and professionally. While she started the year by playing a career-defining role in Heeramandi, the actress also recently tied the knot with the love of her life, Zaheer Iqbal. In a recent interview with Galta India, Sonakshi admitted that she fell at first but fell hard.
Who proposed first between Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal?
The Dabangg diva said, “When we started dating, I was the first one to tell him that I love you. I was the first one to tell him that I will only marry you, whether you like it or not.” According to Sinha, Zaheer boarded the train a little later. She added that as they got to know each other over time and started spending more time with each other and then together, their relationship grew deeper and reached a point where Iqbal also agreed to get married.
Iqbal, who was seen with Sonakshi Sinha during the interview, defended the delay in saying yes to marriage by saying, “I was enjoying this relationship a lot. When you grow up, many people fill your mind with the idea that everything changes after marriage, so I thought that it is going to change, so let’s enjoy it a little more.”

Why did Zaheer Iqbal not cry when Sonakshi Sinha came for the wedding?
The Notebook actor further revealed a funny incident that happened at the couple’s wedding. Zaheer said that while he was all set to have a sudden outburst of emotions upon seeing Sonakshi approach him, the emotion actually lasted only for three seconds. “When I was about to cry I said I am so happy right now and I said ‘jaldi aao yaar, let’s go for a quick wedding.'”
Sonakshi further added that because their love affair, friendship and relationship was beyond limits and beautiful, it doesn’t matter when the marriage happened – “because you know you’re going to.”
Sonakshi Sinha registered her marriage with Zaheer Iqbal on 23rd June 2024 in a civil ceremony attended by only their close friends and family.
