Food vloggers today often showcase a variety of recipes. From street snacks to culinary delights from different regions, the diversity, flavors and raw ingredients have always sparked lively discussion. Cultural differences in food, even within a radius of 1000 kilometers, never fail to grab our attention. Recently, a video has been making waves on Instagram featuring an Indian vlogger on his journey to explore the local cuisine of Indonesia. However, he was completely shocked when he saw a street vendor selling snake meat as a popular snack in the country.

The video begins with the content creator standing in front of a food stall in Indonesia selling snake meat. He was heard explaining how Indonesians enjoy eating meat from completely unconventional animals in Jakarta just as Indians love to eat chow mein and momos.

He then shows his audience – a customer, seemingly an Indonesian, standing in line, waiting for his order – to see the snake’s blood. The social media influencer also revealed that the price of a cobra in Indonesia is as high as Rs 1000 and the people of the country believe that ‘cobra meat’ is extremely beneficial for good skin and immunity. He also shows how to prepare a cobra snack – a man was seen taking out snakes from a cage filled with different species and grilling them before serving them to customers.

This video quickly went viral and has been viewed more than 42 million times.

Within no time, social media users started reacting to this. One user said, “One day I will go there and teach them how to make dal and rice.” Another said, ‘It has been proven that the most dangerous animal on this earth is the human being.’ Someone joked, “Snakes as snacks.”

A section of the audience also compared the ‘snakes’ present there with their ‘ex’ or ‘friends’ or ‘relatives’ and wrote funny comments. “What are my friends doing here,” one of them wrote. Another said, “My ex will be there too, look inside?”
