Sivakarthikeyan breaks silence on Parashakti and Thalapathy Vijay’s Jan Nayagan clash on Pongal 2026: ‘I was shocked’

Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi is scheduled to release in theaters on January 10, 2026, coinciding with Pongal this year. Before the film hits the big screens, the team recently held an audio launch event, where Sivakarthikeyan finally broke his silence on Thalapathy Vijay’s clash with Jan Nayakan.

Speaking at the Parasakthi pre-release event, Sivakarthikeyan revealed how scared he was when he heard that his film would clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayakan, especially since it is being seen as the superstar’s last cinematic venture.

The Amaran actor said, “We had initially planned to release Parasakthi for Diwali 2025, but at that time, the Jan Nayakan team had already locked the Diwali release date. So, we decided against it and continued working on our film keeping Pongal in mind. However, suddenly, the Jan Nayakan team also pushed its release to Pongal. I was shocked.”

The actor further added, “I called up my producer Akash Bhai and asked if we could change our release date to avoid a clash with Jan Nayakan. However, he revealed that all the investors had already been informed that the film would release for Pongal. Also, if postponed, it would release in the summer of 2026, when the Tamil Nadu assembly elections are due.”

Sivakarthikeyan further said that he then called Vijay’s manager, Jagadish and inquired about both the films releasing during Pongal. The actor said, “I asked him, ‘What is this, brother? Parashakti and Jana Nayagan are releasing together, even this is being promoted as Vijay sir’s last film. You won’t have any problem at the box office, but I will. Can you ask sir about it once?’ He went and asked Vijay sir and called me back after five minutes.

“He told me that Vijay sir believes that since it is Pongal, there is enough space for both the films to release and will not impact each other at the box office. Sir also extended his best wishes for Parasakthi. So, in the end, what I want to say is this: Everyone, please go watch Jana Nayakan on January 9 and enjoy it and celebrate it. We are talking about a man who has entertained us for 33 years. Then, Come on January 10 and see Parashakti and celebrate it too,” SK added.
