In an interview with The Times of IndiaAmal reflected in an emotional post, in which he accused his parents of stressing his bond with his brother, singer Armaan Malik. He revealed that it was a long time to express his feelings.
“It was not impulse. It can be in an impulse, but it is a collection of emotions over the years. Everyone is not just talking to achieve some headlines or some front page. There are things that we feel. But the kind of love and support that I got from within my family, and I think I feel that I am not giving myself.
While Amal admitted that his post hurt his parents, he also shared that it opened the honest conversation within the family which had been missing for a long time.
“My parents also understood it. It actually brought us closer as a family. They were clearly a little hurt, but they understood that our son is doing a lot, and we did not get time to understand that feeling. But after that it became very valuable and beautiful. In March, Amal announced that he was cutting all personal relations with his family, blaming the years of emotional crisis for his decision. He revealed that he had come to know of diagnostic depression, writing, “I have been robbed of my peace, emotionally dried, and perhaps financially – but it is at least from my concerns. What is really what I mean by these events that I am clinically depressed. Yes, I have only been convicted for my work)
He also wrote about feeling less by people close to him, and said that his relationship with his family would now be strictly professional. However, the singer later removed the post and urged the media to honor his family’s confidentiality.
