Actor Shaveta Menon, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Malayalam Movie Actor (AMMA) Association, appeared in India today in the Conclave South 2025. He opened the case filed against him while contesting for the post of President of Amma Election.

The actor talked about his shocking response to the case filed against him for acting in films made twelve years ago. He said, “More enemies, I gain more excellence. This case was disintegrating as a person. It was about films that came 12 years ago. The films mentioned, they had given me a state award. No one was exposed in such a case. I was confused that if I was out of the election and my family was supported, then I moved forward, then I became a firing.”

The Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against Menon on the basis of a complaint alleging that he had acted in films and advertisements with obscene and obscene materials with the intention of earning money. The case was registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956, Section 5 and Information Technology Act 2000, Section 67 (A), according to the directions of the court.

It came at a time when the actor was contesting for the post of president of the Malayalam Movie Artists (Amma) elections set for August 15. The then President Mohanal had a growing support for her after the entire committee of Amma after resigning.

Martin Menchari, a social worker had registered an FIR against Menon. The complainant alleged that the material was spread to gain popularity through social media and adult sites and was misused to make financial gains. Despite the controversy, the actor was appointed as Amma’s first female president.

Menon is the two -time winner of the Best Actress Award at the Kerala State Film Awards and has mostly acted in Malayalam and Hindi.
