In Sahitya Aaj Tak 2024, Shweta Tripathi admitted that male characters get better stories.
Actress Shweta Tripathi discussed the gender disparity in storytelling and how audiences can help bridge this gap during her session at Sahitya Aaj Tak 2024.
Actress Shweta Tripathi, along with her co-stars from Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen 2 – Tahir Raj Bhasin, Aanchal Singh and Gurneet Singh Choudhary, were the guests on the third day of Sahitya Aaj Tak 2024. During the session, Shweta explained how male characters make for better stories and how the disparity can be bridged by the audience.
When Shweta Tripathi was asked about a character that she wanted to play, Shweta Tripathi said that it is Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Rockstar. She then added, “I don’t differentiate characters based on their gender. In fact, male characters always get better stories.” He also admitted that he would have loved to play the character of Vikrant in Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen because “it’s a very well-written character”.
She further added, “What I am trying to say is that if we want to see a difference on screen, we have to make a difference at home, in offices and in colleges. When a show or film led by women is released ” So do you buy tickets or give it views? This difference is not just for the industry, the audience also has a big responsibility.
Shweta Tripathi also said that she would love to play Faizal Khan’s character in The Gangs of Wasseypur.
Shweta was also asked how she moves from one character to another. Speaking about it, he said, “I shot for Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen, Kaalkoot and Escape Live at the same time. It was difficult to play an acid attack survivor, as I had played in Kaalkoot.”
He further added, “Sometimes, when you are moving from one character to another, it really helps to get out of the character. What I like is that if I play Golu (from Mirzapur) Like I am showing the strength of a girl in the character.” There is also a Shikha (Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen) who is also very strong, but she is not an active member of the plan as she has to work for Vikrant (played by Tahir Raj Bhasin) as a middle-class girl. they are all ‘One in lakhs‘(one in a million), in different ways.
He also said, “In real life, Shweta is like Zinnia Khan of ‘Kya Mast Hai Life’, her life is like Disney.”
