Shreyas Talpade on dubbing for Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2: Was nervous yet excited
Shreyas Talpade voices Allu Arjun in the Hindi version of Pushpa: The Rule. Speaking to India Today Digital, the actor praised Allu Arjun’s dynamic performance and shared his experience of dubbing for the superstar.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is here, thrilling the audience with Allu Arjun’s power-packed performance. If you are one of those who watched the Hindi version, you might have already been impressed by the voice of Shreyas Talpade as Pushpa Raj. The Bollywood star once again voices the protagonist, which he described as a “nervous” experience.
Speaking exclusively to India Today Digital, Shreyas Talpade shared this in view of the expectationsHe was worried, and now feels relieved and enjoying the love of the audience.
While watching the Hindi version of the film, many people imagined Shreyas as Pushp Raj. When told this, the actor humbly said, “It’s all thanks to the director (Sukumar) and Allu Arjun. If they had not acted in that way, I would not have been able to justify my role.” What you see on the screen is quite fascinating, and it also motivates me to give my best shot. It’s rare that a sequel is even better than the original film, and Pushpa is one of those rare examples.”
When asked if he had ever thought that if a remake was being made then he might also play the role of Pushpa Raj, Shreyas laughed. “Apparently, it’s on the wish list,” he said. He further added, “I haven’t even done a film like that, and as an actor, you always aspire to do that. If I ever get a chance to live out that part, I would be very happy to say yes. “
The Golmaal actor shared that the dubbing director had seen his work in The Lion King (he dubbed for Simon), and suggested his name to the producers. He was surprised when he got the call, given his resemblance and admiration for Allu Arjun’s work, Shreyas decided to watch the film. “And I was floored. I really liked what they did. I enjoyed the approach and the whole swag and confidence. So, I decided to give it a shot, and I’m so glad they let me dub it.” The voice I wanted would suit Pushpa Raj.”

Shreyas Talpade said that since he never dubbed for any other actor, he was stunned by the love he received. Interestingly, he has not met Allu Arjun in person yet. Recalling a touching moment during the dubbing of the film, the actor shared that sometimes it is a challenge to dub for certain emotions as he has not seen this journey.
He said, “When you are dubbing for another actor, you have to get into his character to a great extent. There is a sequence in the climax where Pushpa cries. I was told that it was a little tearful.” sequence, but when I saw the scene, their emotions were so strong. As soon as I saw them acting, I could see their entire journey in front of me, and I immediately went to record, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity. remember feelings wanted to do.”
While Pushpa has achieved global success, it has also been criticized for glorifying toxic masculinity. When asked if he ever questioned the character and his actions during dubbing, Shreyas said, “To be honest, I keep my beliefs and the character very separate. As an actor, you only have to be guided by the director. Not everything they want will be liked by you, and vice versa, but you have to believe in their convictions. Even during Pushpa 2, there were some instances Where I felt things could have been a little different was the director was very firm on the way he wanted it, and so, we stuck to it. The actor’s next dubbed film, Mufasa: The Lion King, is set to release soon. “These are the two characters I have ever dubbed, and both of them releasing in the same month is quite a moment. While one is a sequel, the other is a prequel. Apart from his dubbing projects, Shreyas Talpe said that he is shooting for Housefull 5 and also has Welcome to the Jungle, Baaghi 4 in the pipeline. His next release will be Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.
