Actor Bobby Deol is currently enjoying the success of his latest film Animal. Deol earned critical acclaim and won the hearts of his fans with his phenomenal role. Looking at the future, there is a lot of talk about a sequel to his 1998 hit film Soldier. Some time ago, Deol had hinted at a sequel when he mentioned that he wanted Ramesh Taurani to make a sequel.
Now, the veteran producer, who recently released Ishq Vishk’s spiritual sequel Ishq Vishk Rebound, has confirmed that his plans to develop the Soldier franchise will come to fruition very soon.
Ramesh Taurani confirms Soldier 2
According to News 18, they revealed that they are making a sequel to Soldier and the shooting of the film will begin next year. While Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shehnaaz Treasury were not a part of Ishq Vishk Rebound, there is uncertainty over whether Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta will reprise their roles in Soldier 2.
Taurani said the casting decision will depend on how the story shapes up.
Bobby Deol talks about Soldier 2
Deol had an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla during which he spoke about his projects and the possibility of a sequel to his hit film Soldier.
Looking at Bobby Deol’s filmography, Soldier is one of his blockbuster films. When asked if there has been any discussion about the sequel of this 1998 cult film, the actor said that it has been a long time since then.
However, he responded with a smile and hoped that after the success of Animal, Tips owner Ramesh S. Taurani might consider making a second part with him.
How Preity Zinta got ‘Soldier’
In an old interview with Radio Nasha, Abbas revealed that producer Taurani had fixed a meeting with Preity, who was earlier supposed to work on a film directed by Shekhar Kapur. However, the shooting of that film had not yet begun.
Mustan recalled meeting Preeti at Taurani’s office, saying there were no auditions in those days. He described how she sat in front of him, kept talking for 15 minutes straight and didn’t let him get a single word out. Despite this, he liked her instantly and felt she was perfect for the role, noting her cheerful and natural demeanor.
The two further revealed that Taurani had signed them for three films, including Soldier, Kya Kehna and another project.
On the work front of Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta
On the work front, after working with Sandeep Reddy Vanga in the action-drama film Animal, despite mixed reviews from cinema lovers and critics, Animal managed to rake in big numbers at the box office. Next, he is reportedly working on several Telugu and Tamil films, including Kanguva, Hari Hara Veera Mallu and NBK 109.
Meanwhile, Zinta is all set to return to the big screen with Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming project Lahore 1947. The actress has been sharing some fun behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets.
