Shalini Pasi reveals how she overcame spinal cord trauma after pregnancy through yoga and alternative therapies, despite being told she would never dance or wear heels again.
Shalini Pasi, who rose to fame after appearing in Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, lost sensation in her legs and spinal cord after giving birth to her son Robin at the age of 20. In a new interview, Shalini reveals how she defied, overturned, medical predictions. Despite saying she would never dance or wear heels again, her condition worsened.
talking to HauterflyShalini openly narrated her ordeal. “My doctor said, ‘You’re going to have to have injections in your spine for the rest of your life’ because I had lost all sensation in my spine and legs,” she recalls.
“They also said you can’t wear heels and dance. So I just got up and left. I just sat in my car and left for my dance class. I said I want to dance; I like to dance and I like to wear heels.
Instead of following the prescribed injections, Shalini chose alternative treatments to aid her recovery.
“With yoga, Ayurveda, exercise and muscle training and strengthening, I strengthened my back. I still go to the same doctor. He is a great doctor. I never got any medicine from him, but I go to him every five months for my check-up,” she said, adding that even her doctors are surprised by her recovery.
“He says it’s a miracle you made it out OK. It is a miracle that you can walk, wear heels and dance,” Shalini shared.
In another interview with Deepak Pareek, Shalini revealed that her relationship with her now 27-year-old son Robin is like a brother and sister.
“I’d go to the toy store and get excited like my son. I’d take him to Disneyland and enjoy the rides with him. Then I’d suggest, ‘Robin, let’s do skating classes,’ and We used to go ice skating. I also taught her skiing and scuba diving, we were like brother and sister, growing up together,” she said.
