Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s legal battle over a French winery is nowhere near resolved. In fact, the latest development in the case has made it even more complicated.
In a long-running judicial dispute, Brad Pitt has responded strongly to Jolie’s request that he disclose third-party communications related to their infamous 2016 private plane crash, which led to the couple’s divorce. Court documents obtained by People show that Pitt’s legal team described Jolie’s latest legal maneuver as “sweeping and intrusive,” labeling it a “sensationalist fishing expedition.”
The actress’ lawyers have filed a motion to deny her plea, stating that their client has already voluntarily agreed to submit sufficient documentation regarding the incident described by Jolie.
Jolie asks Pitt for records of 2016 plane crash; actor refuses
According to her legal team, “However, Jolie rejected Pitt’s agreement and took steps to compel his communications with third parties,” which reportedly includes discussions about the therapy she received after the incident and the allegations of alcohol and drug testing, among other matters.
According to court documents reviewed by multiple media outlets, Pitt’s lawyers argued that the communications were irrelevant to the case, while accusing Jolie of attempting to revive the former couple’s divorce case.
For those who don’t know, the Bullet Train star was accused of verbally and physically abusing Jolie in 2016 in front of all their children while the family was on a private plane returning from France to Los Angeles.

Angelina Jolie asked to submit details of eight-year NDA
In May this year, the court in the winery case had demanded Jolie to produce the eight-year non-disclosure agreements she had signed. Meanwhile, Pitt’s team recorded that the actor had offered to buy Jolie’s share in Chateau Miraval, but she declined the deal because of the NDA.
By having Jolie document her years-old NDA, Pitt’s lawyers reportedly want to underscore its inherent indiscretion. On the other hand, his team labeled Pitt’s winery NDA as a contractual strategy that would silence their client about his alleged abuse, which she refused to do.
Jolie’s lawyer Paul Murphy told the court in May that she had no problem with submitting to the previous NDA, stressing that it was not comparable to what Pitt had offered the actress as part of the failed Chateau Miraval deal.
Jolie and Pitt, who was declared legally single in 2019, are still discussing the details of their divorce settlement, People recently reported. The former couple has six children: Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.
