Samsung is unveiling the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition today. This is the latest in a series of special editions that Samsung is creating for the Olympics. In this case, we’re talking about the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, taking place from February 4 to February 22.
As usual with these devices, Samsung will be giving a gift to every athlete competing, about 3,800 in total from almost 90 countries. So this is a very limited edition – look for these on eBay soon, as most of these usually end up here.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition “features an iconic design that commemorates athletes’ participation in the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well as practical services to help enhance their experience in the Olympic Village and throughout the competition,” Samsung said in its official press release.
The blue color on the back “aligns with the unique style of the Milano Cortina 2026”, whatever that means, and “represents a combination of Samsung’s long-standing identity and the cultural resonance of the Italian blue color”. But wait – the color also somehow “reflects the sense of unity and sportsmanship embodied by the Olympic Games”.
The gold metal frame “symbolizes the athletes’ pursuit of excellence and podium moments, as well as the brand’s aspiration for the best”. As you can see from the image below, the device comes with a clear magnet case with a blue circular magnet, surrounded by gold laurel leaves that are “added as a victory motif”.
Software-wise, there are special wallpapers, as well as a “pre-loaded suite of essential apps and services to support the athletes at Milano Cortina 2026”. For example, the Galaxy Athlete Card lets them exchange profiles digitally and take part in interactive activities, Athlete365 provides performance and mental health support and provides key competition information, while other apps also come pre-installed: the official Olympic Games app, the IOC Hotline and PinQuest.
Athletes will also get a 100GB 5G eSIM from Samsung, as the company clearly knows most of them won’t be switching from their iPhones. The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition will be distributed in Olympic villages in six cities from January 30.
