The race to make the thinnest smartphone is getting hot in 2025. Apple and Samsung- Two of the world’s largest technical giants are going into all on ultraslim design with their respective high-ended prasad: iPhone 17 Air (expected to replace the plus model in the iPhone annual line-up) and Samsung Galaxy S25 Age. These phones are expected to offer a mixture of sleek profiles and top-tier hardware, indicating a shift in those days when the thinness of a phone was preferred as a design statement. But when it is thin, often comes with trade-off-that is a small battery, limited thermal management, or simplified camera system. So the big question is how these slim devices will be piled up in the use of the real world? let’s take a closer look.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. iPhone 17 Air: Display and Design

When it comes to sheer dimensions, both phones are ready to break records for thinness. The Galaxy S25 edge has been tipped to measure just 5.84 mm thick, making it the thinnest Galaxy phone. Despite its ultra-split frame, Samsung is asked to use a titanium chassis with corning gorilla glass ceramic protection at the front, which should improve both durability and scratch resistance. The phone is expected to weigh about 162 grams, making it not only thin, but also the lightest in its segment.

On the other hand, the iPhone 17 air is rumored to be thin at 5.5 mm at its thinnest point. Apple may opt aluminum on the titanium, possibly as part of its ongoing efforts to meet stability goals. A remarkable change can be to completely remove the physical sim tray, indicating a complete step for ESIM technology. This approach can help the Apple to maintain a clean and minimal external, reducing internal dislocation.

Display-wise, Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Apple’s iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch OLED panel facility with promotion technology, which will first bring a high refresh rate display for a non-ex-iPhone. Both phones aim to provide a premium visual experience in a slim profile, and in this regard, they closely match.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. iPhone 17 Air: Performance and Software

Despite their thin designs, neither makes a compromise on phone performance. The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be operated by Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset, which is added with 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage. Samsung may also include customized Galaxy AI features such as live translation, photo editing and smart automation to promote productivity and user experience.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air may have a new A19 chip feature on the 3Nm process. Although it can only come up with 8GB RAM, Apple’s hardware-software integration and iOS optimization often provide efficient and powerful performance regardless of raw numbers. Additionally, the phone is rumored to include Apple’s in-house modem chip, which should improve connectivity and battery efficiency.

On the software front, Apple is expected to introduce iOS 19 with smart AI capabilities, including an advanced head, real -time summary and advanced photo tools. A UI version of Samsung based on Android 15 will also focus a lot of focus on AI, which will continue the company’s push in intelligent features.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs iPhone 17 Air: Battery

Battery life is usually the first victim of thin phones, but both brands are seen making clever tricks to reduce the agreement.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is said to facilitate a 3,900mAh battery with 25W fast charging. While Galaxy is not the fastest in line-up, it should still be decent for most users. The phone is also rumored to support wireless charging, perhaps at 15W speed.

Apple’s iPhone 17 Air may include a slightly smaller battery, but can make it for the next generation A19 chip, which is expected to be more energy-skilled than the A18 chip. Combined with iOS optimization, it is possible that the phone can offer battery life on equal – or even better – thick iPhones. Magsafe wireless charging and 20W wired charging are also expected.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs iPhone 17 Air: Pricing and Launch Details

Samsung has now confirmed that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be launched on May 13, 2025, possibly to follow with a global rollout. Between the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra, the phone is expected to sit in the premium segment. Hopefully, its price will be between Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999. The leak suggests that the price of the device can be 1,249 for 256GB variants and Euro 1,369 for 512GB model, which is converted to about Rs 1,20,000 and Rs 1,31,600.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come up with the iPhone 17 series in September 2025. It can replace the iPhone 16 Plus in the line-up of Apple, with an initial price of about $ 899 (about 76,800 rupees). To start around Rs 89,900 compared to Indian pricing, assuming that Apple retains previous year’s pricing strategy.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs iPhone 17 Air: Final Views

Both Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 17 Air are taking more shapes than only design showcases. Till now we can expect concrete performance, top-level displays and smart features-how thin a flagship phone can be by pushing solid performance, top-level displays and smart features.

He said, each brand is taking a slightly different view: Going out on Samsung Hardware-which includes 200-megapixel rear camera, a premium titanium frame and ceramic glass protection. Apple, on the contrary, is focusing on refining the user experience through software integration, power efficiency and a cleaner design ethos.

Ultimately, your choice will depend on what matters to you-the feature-rich attitude of the masmang or the minimum but highly adapted offer of Apple. One thing is certain: in 2025, is thin.
