In the incident of stabbing Saif Ali Khan, Bandra Police is set to submit a charge sheet to the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bandra by the end of March. According to legal requirements, the charge sheet should be filed within 60 days. “We have many positive reports and enough evidence,” said a police officer. The actor was attacked several times on 16 January by an intruder during a suspicious robbery attempt at his residence in Bandra West and stabbed several times.
The attacker, Bangladeshi National, Arbulpul Islam, managed to escape, but was caught on 19 January. He is currently in judicial custody and is being held in Arthur Road Jail.
Officials are confident that the case against him is strong enough to secure a punishment. According to police sources, a forensic report has confirmed that the five fingerprint collected from a duct in the building where Saif Ali Khan matches the accused.
A crime visual entertainment organized after Sheriful’s arrest provided further insights. The accused allegedly noticed that one security guard was sleeping, while the other was stationed at some distance from the entrance of the building. While seizing the opportunity, Shafal allegedly entered a neighboring building and extended a shared wall.
He then climbed into a duct running on the banks of Satguru Sharan and made his way to the fourth floor, eventually emerging in the ladder.
The charge sheet includes more than 25 statements, including eyewitnesses and prominent individuals. Four of them along with other employees have been testified to Saif Ali Khan’s staff members, Ellium Philip and Junu.
The statements of Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor have also been recorded. Additionally, the police have included the statement of Shariful’s acquaintance and employer, Jitendra Pandey. The accused has only one known relative in India – his maternal uncle – whose statement has also been documented.
The charge sheet also includes a statement by Khukumoni Jahangir Sheikh, a woman from West Bengal, whose mobile phone was stolen by Sheriful and later used. The investigation has determined that Shariful’s intention was completely theft, and had no knowledge that the house he targeted was of the actor.
