Ryan Reynolds says Channing Tatum was born to play Gambit: Couldn’t be more thrilled
In a recent Instagram post, Ryan Reynolds shared his excitement for Channing Tatum’s portrayal of Gambit in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ highlighting Tatum’s decade-long dedication to the role and the unique connection between actor and character.

In a recent post on Instagram, Ryan Reynolds expressed his happiness about Channing Tatum playing Gambit in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest offering ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. The ‘Free Guy’ actor said, “Channing Tatum was born to play Gambit. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Ryan talked about the character of Remy LeBeau aka Gambit in the post and how Channing was the only person who could play the character. He wrote, “Gambit is someone Chan was born to play. His story is very similar to my journey on Deadpool – in which Chan spent a decade trying to bring the most comic-accurate version of Gambit to the big screen. Remy LeBeau has been implanted in his soul and he has to come out and deal with it.
He added, “Some characters can only come into existence with a one in a billion chance and this is that. Gambit found his writer in Chan. He’s one of the coolest, most intelligent characters in comics and still largely unknown. I want more – and judging by what I’ve seen in theaters, you should too.”

Ryan praised Channing for her effortless portrayal of the character. “Getting the chance to say goodbye to some of these heroes is just as important as supporting the new characters… and it’s easy to root for Gambit. It’s even easier to root for Chan. He’s one of the greatest, hardest-working, kindest people in this entire industry. I’m so thrilled to see @channingtatum bring Gambit back from the dead and resurrect him at the right time and in the right way.”
Jennifer Garner, who reprised her role as Elektra in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, commented, “I’m ready for the Gambit movie, the sequel, the three-quel. Buying tickets now @channingtatum (sic).”

Fans also expressed their love and admiration for Channing as Gambit in the comments section. One fan wrote, “So this is a Creole accent. Gambit had a real Creole/Cajun accent.. half French half ghetto swamp. Big congratulations to Channing Tatum for really nailing the disappearing accent.”

Reynolds took to social media to thank the actors who played special roles in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ He acknowledged the contributions of Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner and Dafne Keen and expressed his appreciation for their involvement.
For Wesley, Ryan wrote, “There is no market in the Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade. He’s the Marvel daddy. Please share this for a Logan-like farewell.”

For those who don’t know, Marvel initially planned a standalone Gambit film starring Channing Tatum. Despite several delays, it was planned to release in 2020. However, the project was put on hold due to Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Following the acquisition, Disney officially cancelled the film in May 2019.
‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ released in theaters on July 26 and is the third film in the Deadpool franchise. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the lead roles.
