Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, star, writer and producer of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest offering ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, shared his thoughts on Henry Cavill’s casting as Wolverine’s variant, Wolverine. “I can’t think of a more impossible or frustrating role than someone like Wolverine,” Reynolds remarked during a recent interview.

Ryan added, “As an actor, it would be a terrifying and intimidating step to take. You would really have to reinvent it and take it in a different way.” He highlighted the unique challenge of filling the shoes of an iconic character that has been firmly established in the public mind.

Reynolds expressed his admiration for Cavill, saying that if a new Wolverine ever needed to be cast, Cavill would be his first choice. “It was based on the fact that if I had to cast someone as Wolverine and the guy who has made it canon in every way, shape and form on-screen and off-screen was not available for some reason… Henry Cavill,” he said.

Reynolds shared his admiration for Cavill’s participation, noting the enjoyable nature of their collaboration. “The conversation itself with Henry was fun. It’s one of the few cameos that’s a real cameo,” he said.

Reynolds emphasized his desire to support Cavill, saying, “We love Henry and I would do anything for him.”

Director Shawn Levy credited Reynolds for the idea, mentioning that it came shortly after discussions about the Superman/DC franchise. “It came to us shortly after Superman/DC shuffled the decks. The idea, the name, the text, the answer was all in 15 minutes. The idea was created by Ryan. Named by Ryan at the same time,” Levy confirmed.
