Rock band Tenacious D, which features members Jack Black and Kyle Gass, has been deported!

Ahead of the Australian leg of the Spicy Meatballs Tour, Australian Senator Ralph Babb has demanded that the band should be deported due to Gass’ insensitive joke about Trump’s recent assassination attempt.

Tenacious D’s Australian tour dates have been postponed

On Tuesday, July 16, the comedy rock duo was scheduled to perform at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Australia as part of their tour. However, the event was cancelled at the last minute without any notice.

Later, concert promoter Frontier Touring announced the show’s postponement on social media. The post also mentioned that “ticket holders are requested to hold on to their tickets until further information is available.”

It appears that United Australia Party Senator Babbitt objected to Gass’ inappropriate joke about the attempted assassination of Trump and ordered the band deported.

“I urge Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to join me in condemning Tenacious D, Jack Black and band member Kyle Gass, and I urge Immigration Minister Andrew Giles to cancel their visas and deport them immediately,” he said on Tuesday.

Babette said anything short of deportation would encourage this behavior and support the unfortunate assassination attempt on Donald J. Trump, and that keeping him in the country would be “unthinkable.”

What were Kyle Gass’ comments about the Trump firing?

The comedian and Tenacious D member celebrated his birthday on July 14. In a video circulating online, Gass was brought his birthday cake and asked to make a wish while blowing out the candles. Without further ado, he replied, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

Given the singer’s sense of humor, the joke may not have had any malicious intent, but the clip went viral just days after the shooting attempt, sparking controversy and landing him in trouble. Many users objected to the senator’s harsh actions.

A user on X commented, “Are we really living in a world where a comedian can be deported for telling a joke? The Tenacious D/Kyle Gass situation is absolutely ridiculous. If you don’t like his jokes, don’t go to his show. Simple.” Another user wrote, “Classic Kyle. Hail D.”

Stay tuned for more updates on the matter!
