Robert Pattinson can’t believe that people are still watching the Twilight franchise after almost two decades. In conversation with GQ Spain, the actor revealed that he feels excited to still be recognized by his iconic film character, but is also surprised by how much his fans have stuck with the 2008 film. The new father in town shared that viewers and fans of his work come up to him and tell him that Twilight “ruined the vampire genre.”
While sitting for an interview with the media portal, the Remember Me star shared that the cultural relevance of the film till date is incredible. Elaborating on the statements, he said, “I love that people keep telling me, ‘Man, Twilight ruined the vampire genre.'”
The actor further revealed his reaction to people coming up to him to praise the film. He says, “Are you still holding on to that s—? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? This is madness.”

The first supernatural film in Pattinson’s saga turns 16 in November 2024. Following the hit verdict of the film, the makers released four more parts, which were released in theaters in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.
Adding to his statements, the Batman star said in his conversation during the podcast, “I find it hard to believe the cultural relevance of these movies because they are so old.”
He added, “The first one was released in 2008, f—!”
For the film saga, The Lighthouse star was cast alongside Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. The films are available to stream on Netflix.
