Under Donald Trump, the US government is allegedly using an artificial intelligence tool to identify and scrap almost half of all federal rules. A new report by the Washington Post suggests that the AI system, known as the Dogo AI Deragulation Decision Equipment, is part of a large plan to cut thousands of rules by the first anniversary of return to office by the first anniversary of Trump’s return.

The device is being operated by the government efficiency, or the Dogi department, and has been trained to review more than 200,000 federal rules. Depending on the initial estimates, about 100,000 of these rules can be marked to remove. The AI Tool has already been used in agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where it allegedly reviewed and suggested for over 1,000 regulatory classes within two weeks. In the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), it is said that it is responsible for writing the agency’s recent delegation.

Government officials told The Post that the AI system was created by engineers brought in administration while joining the Dog of Elon Musk. While some agencies have adopted the equipment, others are sensitive and often cautious on the basis of AI models to review complex federal rules.

According to a presentation reviewed by the post, the equipment is being deployed as a solution to save both time and money. The Trump administration believes that this AI-manual approach can reduce the federal budget, cut red tape, and attract more investment by reducing compliance for businesses.

Trump’s widespread deragulation agenda is not new. In January, he signed an executive order, which was aimed at the objective of fast-tracking deragulation efforts, asked agencies to cancel 10 rules for every new. Since then, departments such as transport and labor have publicly announced a massive cut in existing rules and regulatory language.

However, legal experts have warned that this process may not be as straightforward. To scrip a federal rule often undergo detailed procedures under administrative law. There are also concerns that using AI to make such decisions can cause mistakes or overrech.

White House spokesman Harrison Fields said in a statement that the administration is still searching for all options and nothing has been finalized. But he praised the Dogi team for bringing new ideas in government operations.

While the full effect of the equipment remains to be seen, it has already created tension within the federal workforce. Some staff members are worried that relying on AI for complex legal decisions can lead to unexpected results. Other people say that the deduction of employees running within the agencies is slowing down the overall deragulation push, even the pressure from the White House is pressurized to give results.
