NVIDIA has told some of its largest Chinese customers that it is deafening the design of its artificial intelligence chips to sell them to Chinese businesses without colliding with US export rules. The chip giant has talked to the customers, including Alibaba Group 9988.hk, Tikok-Parent Bidens and Tensent Holdings 0700.HK, the report states that the three people involved in the conversation have been cited citing.
According to the report, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang alerted customers about his plans during his visit to Beijing. Huang’s Beijing trip in mid -April was a few days after the US government’s limited export of its H20 AI chips to China.
Primary chip NVidia was allowed to legally sell export caps into China, resulting in an allegation of $ 5.5 billion for the company, it then said. NVIDIA has told customers that a sample of the new chip will be available soon as June, the information said. According to the report, the company also said that it was still working on the China-specific version of its latest generation AI chip, Blackwell.
NVIDIA refused to comment on the report. Bytedance, Alibaba, TENCENT and US Commerce Departments did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comments.
Sales of NVidia’s Advanced AI Chips for China – a major market for the company – a controversial subject, in which US authorities are proceeding to restrict the flow of most powerful chips in China to put forward in the AI race.
After those sanctions, the company began to design the chips sewn to China, which would be as close as possible of the US borders.
