Redmi has finally launched its Note 14 series in India. The series consists of three models, including Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro+. We’ve been testing the high-end variant for a few days now and here are our first impressions of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+.
listen to the story

Over the past few years, Redmi has gained popularity with its affordable yet powerful smartphones, and one of its hero devices has been the Note series. Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 14 series in India today. This includes three smartphones; The standard Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro+. We got a chance to briefly get our hands on the highest-end variant in the series, and so far, the phone hasn’t disappointed.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ packs a 6,200mAh battery, which is bigger than the iQOO 13 (which has a 6,000mAh battery) launched a week ago. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, and features a curved AMOLED display. It has a triple-camera system with a 50-megapixel primary lens. While we’ll share our final verdict on the phone in a detailed review later this week, here are our first impressions of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+.

Looks great, beautiful performance
This time Redmi has paid special attention to the design of the phone. The design and finish of the back panel, the squished camera module, the rounded edges and the curved display, all feel premium.
The phone comes in three color options: blue, purple, and black, and the purple comes with a vegan leather finish. We’ve been testing the blue version, officially called Specter Blue, and it’s impressive.
Design-wise, the form factor of the phone is comfortable, it’s thin, it’s light, but the back panel is quite slippery. I would recommend using the clear case that comes with the device in the retail box. On the front, the phone comes with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

Talking about the display, the display of Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is so bright that it can show every shade of black and gray even in direct sunlight. Watching Netflix and scrolling through Instagram on the device is a joy. We are looking forward to testing the phone further for the visual experience on the device. It should be good as it has a 6.67-inch AMOLED curved display and Dolby Atmos dual speakers.
However, we have noticed that curved displays can also be a drawback when it comes to gaming. This hinders the experience, mostly due to accidental touches. Is this an issue on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, we’ll find out in our detailed review of the phone.
spontaneous performance
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip and runs on Xioami HyperOS. The processor is a bit old, but the phone is fast. As of now, it works smoothly in all applications. However, the device comes with a bunch of bloatware including pre-loaded Netflix, Snapchat, PhonePe, Facebook and many other mini-games. But the good thing is that all these applications can be uninstalled.
The specialty of the phone is its AI feature. The company is boasting of over 20 AI features installed in the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, making it a tough competitor in the market, especially in its price segment. These features include AI Translator, AI Summarize, AI Erase, AI Expand, and more. We’ll share more details about the real-world relevance of these features in our detailed review.
huge battery
AI, AMOLED displays, and big camera sensors in phones require some heavy fueling, and Redmi has taken care of that. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ packs a 6,200mAh battery with 90W charging support. So far, we’re seeing great battery backup, but we’re yet to put the phone through its paces to really give a verdict on it. However, the charging speed on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is quite good. It takes 70 minutes to fully charge from 0 percent to 100 percent.
camera is a hero
Redmi Note 14 Pro+ clicks beautiful pictures in daylight. It has a triple-camera system, which consists of a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The primary camera clicks detailed and vivid pictures, especially during the day time.

We’ll go into more detail about camera performance in the full review. But we are looking forward to testing some features on the phone, like Dynamic Shots, Dual Video Recording, Pro, Portrait Mode and more. There are also several AI camera features to test, including AI Image Expansion, AI Erase Pro, AI Smart Clip, AI Cutout, and more.
Summary
On paper, the device seems like a steal-deal at an effective price of Rs 29,999. It is packed with flagship-level specs including AI-powered features. However, we still want to put the device through its paces and see if it offers an overall experience that’s commensurate with its price. Stay tuned for the answer to our detailed review.
