Introduction

It’s the same as the 12 Pro+, but with AI – lots of AI. The promo material for the Realme 13 Pro+ is full of early teasers of what’s believed to be the new big thing – current Big deal. We’ll be looking at the new Realme midranger from our usual perspective, which is based more on numbers and hardware capabilities, although we’ll be open to finding out how useful the AI bits are.

It’s not without hardware changes in the 13 Pro+ – just not as big. Perhaps the biggest difference is the telephoto camera’s sensor – now 50MP vs 64MP. It’s still roughly the same size, and if it’s as good as the 12 Pro+’s, we won’t complain, that’s for sure. Both this and the main camera’s imager (otherwise identical by the numbers) should be new stuff from Sony.

Battery capacity has also improved somewhat – 5,200mAh vs 5,000mAh. There’s now 80W charging with the larger cell (67W on the previous model), though watts hardly tell the whole story.

Other than that, things are largely unchanged – at least on the surface. The 6.7-inch OLED display seems to be the same, though we’ll allow ourselves a slight spoiler – it’s better, this one.

The Snapdragon 7-series chipset is also the same as the 12 Pro+, for better or worse. Stereo speakers, an under-display fingerprint reader, IP65-rated dust and water resistance – these are also included.

Realme 13 Pro+ Unboxing

The 13 Pro+ comes in a standard yellow box with more or less the usual stuff. The cheap grey silicone case is better than most, even if its ‘leather’ texture isn’t the most attractive. The 80W charger (which behaves like 55W in some places) is most welcome and there’s a USB-A-to-C cable to complete the link.
