FWICE has issued a strict non-cooperation direction against Ranveer Singh, effectively banning him and directing the industry not to work with him until he resolves the dispute with the film body over Rs 45 crore damages demanded by the producers.

FWICE warns against opting out at the last minute
Criticizing the actor’s last-minute exit, the film body wrote in its press release, “FWICE strongly believes that the entire film industry functions as an extended family, where each person associated with different crafts and departments collectively contributes to the successful production of a project.”
The film body said, “The federation considers all artistes, technicians, workers, producers, directors and members of every art form as part of one family bound by mutual trust, professional commitments, respect and collective responsibility. FWICE believes that the sudden exit of projects by senior and established actors at critical stages is a serious threat to the sustainability and working ecology of the entertainment industry.”


Multi-film contract issue
The controversy stems from a complaint filed by Excel Entertainment in April, which revealed that the actor had signed a three-film contract with the banner.
In the complaint, the producers demanded that all pre-production damages amounting to Rs 45 crore be completely borne by Ranveer, with Farhan Akhtar strictly demanding that the massive pre-production costs be reimbursed.
Ranveer refused to discuss FWICE
According to the official press release, when the federation stepped in to mediate the matter, Ranveer refused to discuss the matter with FWICE and said the issue required a “proper” forum. Despite the current non-cooperation directive, the federation has said that it is ready to discuss the matter further with the actor to find an amicable solution.

He said, “This is a very serious matter and this trend is very wrong. You cannot back out of a project 10 days before the shooting starts. We are holding an internal meeting first and then we are taking a decision.”
When asked about the direction the decision could take, he said, “We will do something which is appropriate now. We will not let the industry get ruined here. Anyone can walk out of the film tomorrow. Whatever we do, we will do it in the interest of the industry.”
Producers Guild also intervened
The dispute had previously reached the Producers Guild of India, where senior producers reportedly tried to mediate. According to reports, Excel Entertainment claimed that the team had spent heavily on pre-production and had locked major plans before Singh’s exit. Other reports said that talks regarding the agreement have not reached a final decision.
Akhtar also addressed the issue in an interview Hollywood Reporter India. He said, “A lot has happened over the years. You learn to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted unless you really get it on film.”
