Ramayan trailer: Japanese epic returns with 4K visuals, new voices
The trailer of the Ramayana anime adaptation has been unveiled, featuring enhanced visuals and refreshed sound. This film will be released in theaters on January 24.
The trailer of the famous Indo-Japanese animated film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama was released today. Based on Valmiki’s Ramayana, the film presents the epic story of Prince Rama, from his life in Ayodhya and exile in Panchavati to the climactic battle in Lanka.
Originally conceived by Yugo Sako and directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, the film is an Indo-Japanese collaboration involving over 450 artists creating approximately 100,000 hand-crafted cels. This visual presentation blends Japanese animation with Indian storytelling traditions.

Speaking about the re-release of the film, Moksh Moudgil, CEO, Geek Pictures India, said, “This film is a tribute to one of the greatest stories ever told. For many, it was a memorable part of childhood, and its return to theaters is a chance for a new generation to experience it.

The film is set to release in 4K for the first time in theaters across India on January 24, 2025, distributed by Geek Pictures India, AA Films and Excel Entertainment.
