The iconic 1984 martial arts drama the karate kid is set to return to theaters on March 21, inscribed 40 years after its original release. The film, style, directed by John G. Awildson and written by Robert Mark Commen, remains a defined work, which inspires several sequels, a reboot and successful Cobra Kai series.

Starring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elizabeth Shoo and William Zabka, Karate Kid Daniel follows Larso (Macchio), a teenager who goes to Los Angeles and faces tireless bullying. Under the guidance of his intelligent patron, Sri Miyagi (Morita), Larso Karate learns and enters a high-hand tournament against his suffering. Morita’s portrayal of Miyagi gave her an Academy Award nomination for the best supporting actor.
