Actors Ralph Fiennes and Jennifer Lopez reunited at a recent event DiversityMarking a special moment for fans of the 2002 romantic comedy, Made in Manhattan.

During the event, Fiennes gave an emotional speech in Lopez’s honor, and compared her journey to that of his character in the beloved film.

“Basically, this maid had extraordinary wings that opened up and she flew. But in this life, in this story, I think she’s been flying with determination from an early age. Because I think She knows she has something inside of her that she has to respect,” Fiennes said, referencing Lopez’s portrayal of Marissa Ventura, a determined single mother whose dreams are beyond her reach.

Fiennes emphasized Lopez’s impact on the entertainment industry, saying, “Becoming a legend and a pioneer, it’s a matter of emotion. If you have skills, their popularity wanes, unless there is a strong emotion behind them. It is the soul that moves us forward and lifts us up. You are unique. You have paved a wonderful path. You keep burning it. I guess you’re some kind of goddess. To get it there, is your extraordinary talent, because it is your truth.”

Lopez was touched by Fiennes’s words and responded with gratitude and praise. “He was incredibly handsome. Ralph, it’s been a long time. It’s great to see you. Oh my God, thank you so much for doing this. You know how much I admire you and your work, and it was a privilege to work with you so many years ago. And it’s wonderful to be here today. Thank you very much,” she said.

The duo were last seen on the big screen in the 2002 rom-com, Made in Manhattan. Directed by Wayne Wang, the film stars Jennifer Lopez, Ralph Fiennes and Natasha Richardson. In the film, a hotel maid and a high-profile politician fall in love. It was successful at the box-office.
