Raksha Bandhan 2024: From stealing snacks to cooking together, brother-sister food memories we can never forget

Must read

Food is not just about food. It is a tool that helps us build incredible connections. Yes, you can eat alone and enjoy your meal to the fullest. However, food has a whole new meaning when shared with others, and eating with your family or friends always creates some lasting memories. This Raksha Bandhan 2024, we take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the most fun and adorable food moments that you can only have with your siblings.

Here are some of the fondest food memories one can associate with their siblings:

1. Secretly cooking Maggi at 2 am

Every kid loves Maggi, but instant noodles are even tastier when cooked secretly at night. Most siblings will remember sneaking into the kitchen and making Maggi with their brother or sister. All this has to be done as quietly as possible, else you will have to face the wrath of your parents if they find out!

2. Do not make round rotis at all

Cooking with your siblings is one of the messiest things to do as a child. Siblings go into the kitchen thinking they can cook just like mom, but they always come out of the kitchen with a mess and a pile of rotis that are hard to eat and even hard to look at (what shape is it?).

3. Eating mango papad secretly

Your siblings are your partners in crime and even though you might always fight, you make a strong team when it comes to hiding the junk food you eat behind your mother’s back. From ice candies that will probably “make you sick” to aam papad that you are ‘not allowed’ to eat, siblings are the perfect partners to eat all kinds of junk food together.

4. Checking if there’s more Pepsi in their glass

Yes, we enjoy eating junk food together, but we can also be quite competitive. Somehow, the same food on their plate tastes better than ours. Also, what’s with that extra drop of Pepsi in their glass? Not good! It seems like half of our childhood fights were about food.

5. Eating your share of saved chocolate

“This is half mine and this is half yours, agreed?” Well, most siblings can be heard making such deals over cakes, chips, chocolates and anything else they like. However, naughty and food-loving siblings often break some agreements and secretly eat their sibling’s share of food too!
