Ajay Devgan’s much awaited crime drama Chhap 2 has been opened for a promising start at the domestic box office. Ending its first day in theaters, the sequel to the 2018 hit has earned a pure nationwide of Rs 18 crore.
The film, released on Thursday (today) instead of traditional Friday, benefited from Labor Day Holiday, with strong legs in theaters, especially in large -scale belts. This allowed the audience to enjoy purely commercial offerings.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, RAID 2 sees that Devgan has seen his role as honest IRS officer Ami Patnaik. This time, he is headed with Ritesh Deshmukh, who plays the role of anti-men’s grandfather Manohar Bhai. Wani Kapoor also joins the artists in an important role, which adds fresh energy to the gritty story.
The sequel received the U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and scored 2 hours and 30 minutes. It released around 4,000 screens across India, ensuring a detailed access. Despite the confrontation with two other release, retro and hit 3, RAID 2 managed to dominate with prime showkeasing, thanks to its franchise value and strong star power.
Producer Bhushan Kumar removed concerns about the competition, stating that Raid 2 would be unaffected by retro and hit 3 dubbed films. He said that these films rarely make a challenge in the Hindi market unless they have massive efforts like Pushpa.
Online, the film is being seen as a proper crowd-turner, in which the audience has praised the face between Devgan and Deshmukh. The combination of intense drama, action -rich scenes and socially relevant themes seems to be a raga with fans.
Kumar Gupta, who had also helped the original film, said that the sequel making was easier than building a foundation for the franchise. He emphasized that RAID 2 was operated by a compelling story and not only the brand value.
The original raid earned Rs 98 crore in India and received critical appreciation. Can Raid 2 cross the figure that will depend a lot on the word of the audience in the coming days.
For his digital journey, the film is expected to stream on Netflix after completing his dramatic run, although an official announcement is awaited.
