Radhika Apte was struggling with body image during pregnancy: Was being hard on herself

Just a few days ago, Radhika Apte welcomed her first child with her husband, British musician Benedict Taylor. Now, in a new interview, the actor has shared that even though her pregnancy was planned, it still took her by surprise. She also opened up about initially struggling to embrace the changes in her body that came with pregnancy, but has now become kinder to herself.
In an interview with Vogue, Apte shared, “I started telling people the very next day. It (pregnancy) wasn’t an accident, but we weren’t even trying. And yet, it still came as a shock.
She said that the journey of motherhood has been a mix of challenges and revelations for her. “The truth is, I was struggling to adapt to the way I saw the times. “I had never seen myself gaining so much weight,” Apte admitted. “My body was swollen, my hip was hurting, and the lack of sleep had distorted my perspective on everything. . Now, not even two weeks into becoming a mother, my body is starting to look different again.”

But with time, Radhika’s attitude towards herself has softened. “Every day there are new challenges and discoveries, but I look at those photos with much kinder eyes now. I feel bad for being so hard on myself. I see only beauty in those changes, and I know I will cherish these photos forever.”
She admits that parenthood wasn’t always part of her and Benedict Taylor’s plan. “I don’t think you’ll ever be able to agree on that,” he said, adding, “It’s easier when people are sure about whether they want a child or not. In our case, none of us Didn’t want kids. But there was a certain curiosity about what it would be like. When it happened, we questioned whether to proceed.”
