After the launch of Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm is planning to bring its update next year. According to the latest leak, the Snapdragon 8s Elite will arrive in the first quarter of 2025. In short, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is a powerful new processor, offering significant performance improvements over its predecessor. Qualcomm has managed to overtake Apple in some benchmark tests, drawing a lot of attention to its innovative silicon. The performance increase is mainly attributed to the newly developed in-house Orion CPU.

Snapdragon 8S Elite: What to expect

A tipster on Chinese microblogging site Weibo suggests that Xiaomi could be the first brand to launch a phone powered by the Snapdragon 8s Elite. In the same thread, the hashtag “Xiaomi Civi 5” appears, hinting that this could be the device in question. For context, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro was launched in China in March 2023 as the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, so the Civi 5 could follow a similar trajectory. But since the Civi 4 Pro was not launched in India, we may see the chipset a little later.

Regarding the naming of the chip, Qualcomm may choose the name “Snapdragon 8S Elite” instead of “Snapdragon 8S Gen 4”. However, it is also likely that they will stick with the Gen 4 label to separate it from the Elite branding. Historically, ‘S’ chips have been housed in the BIN version of the main Snapdragon 8 series processors, offering slightly lower performance.

The chip is also referred to by the moniker “fourth-generation Snapdragon 8s Extreme Edition” in the tip, translated from Chinese, which is in line with previous rumors suggesting that the “Elite Edition” would also be labeled as “Extreme Edition”. Can be done. The term “fourth generation” means that this chip could belong to the ‘S’ series within the Snapdragon 8 Elite lineup.

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8s Elite is expected to be slightly less powerful than the main 8 Elite. Nevertheless, it still promises strong capabilities, marking an exciting step forward in mobile processor technology.

The Realme GT 7 Pro, released this month, is the first device to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite in India. However, the chipset made its debut in China with the OnePlus 13 in October.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is the fastest mobile processor ever made by Qualcomm. This new chip is like the brain of your phone, allowing it to handle many tasks quickly and efficiently. Whether you’re gaming, streaming video, or running apps that use AI (Artificial Intelligence), the Snapdragon 8 Elite promises to make everything easier and faster.

At the heart of the processor is Qualcomm’s custom-built Orion CPU (Central Processing Unit), which is responsible for the core operations of your device. The Orion CPU delivers 45 percent better performance than previous chips, meaning tasks like opening apps and browsing the web will be significantly faster. It also offers 44 percent more power efficiency, so your phone’s battery won’t drain faster while performing these high-speed tasks.
