How to ensure that your onion curry turns out thick?

It is a very common problem for the kadhi to turn thin and watery. While it may be covered when served with crispy pakoras, it can be a mess with onions. To ensure that your kadhi is thick, adjust the consistency of your ingredients. If you want to make it thicker, add more gram flour to the curd mixture and let the ingredients cook for a longer time on low flame. This will make the kadhi thicker. However, make sure to balance its flavour with the spices and seasonings.

Onion Kadhi recipe | How to make Onion Kadhi at home

It is very easy to make onion curry at home. This recipe has been shared by digital content creator Mahima Dhoot.

1. Prepare the base

To make this dish, take a bowl and add gram flour, ajwain, salt, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric and curd. Mix well and then add 2-3 cups of water to it. Keep it aside.

2. Cook the ingredients

Heat mustard oil in a pan. Now add a pinch of asafoetida, mustard seeds, garlic cloves, green chillies and chopped onions. Let the ingredients cook well until they become transparent. When they are cooked, add the prepared curd mixture. Let the dish cook on low flame for at least 20 minutes.

3. Prepare the Tadka

Meanwhile, prepare the tempering. Heat some oil, add cumin seeds, red chili powder and 2 red chilies. When it starts crackling, pour this tempering into the prepared curry. Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy!
