Recently during a podcast, Priyanka Chopra shared her experience of working with Thalapathy Vijay in her debut film Thamizhan, remembering how popular the Leo actor was at that time and how his fame made her curious about what it feels like to be so famous.

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently talked about getting close to fame while working with Vijay in her debut Tamil film Thamizhan. The actor recalled that his initial understanding of stardom was shaped by what he saw on the sets of a 2002 Tamil film, where Vijay’s immense popularity left a lasting impression on him.

Speaking on a podcast segment not thin but not fatPriyanka recalled how overwhelming it was to see the crowd that had gathered to see Vijay during the shoot. Reflecting on the experience he said, “It was a movie called Thamizhan In Tamil language in India. This was my first introduction to a little fame. My co-actor, his name is Vijay, is extremely popular. And I remember when we would come to the set, there would be people there; While he was dancing and while he was doing his thing, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people were standing there to watch him.

He further explained how seeing such devotion at the age of 18 formed his initial perception of fame. Priyanka said, “This is my first film. I didn’t know what happens behind the scenes. I saw what we saw in the theatres. And I just remember thinking (about fame), what an surreal feeling it would be, especially in India where people love their films and the fans are really, really giving.”

When asked if she wanted to achieve similar popularity, the actor admitted that her youth had initially equated acting with fame. She said, “Yeah. My 18-year-old self was like, is this what it means? I think I had a bad relationship with this job because I thought it was about fame. Only when I started doing it did I realize that fame is a byproduct of the job. It’s not the job. And that’s when it got really fun.”

Priyanka has talked about her work experience before too Thamizhan Too. During an interview with Vanity Fair in 2022, he recalled learning valuable work ethic lessons from Vijay during the shoot. She said, “I loved watching my co-actor Vijay – he was one of the first people to have an impact on my life. He had tremendous humility on the set. Once he comes on the set, he doesn’t leave the set. And that’s something I still do.”

Talking about the work front, Priyanka was recently seen in an action thriller. The BluffWhich premiered on February 25 on Amazon Prime Video. She is also set to make a comeback to Indian cinema with filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s film. VaranasiWhich will mark his return after a long gap.
