L2: Emapuran’s producer Gokulam Gopalan has said that he has asked the director-actor Prithviraj to make changes in the film as it was claimed that the film hurts the sentiments of a certain section of the audience. Speaking to Manorama Online, the producer said, “If anyone has hurt any scenes or dialogues shown in the film Moopuran, I have asked director Prithviraj to make changes.”
“Some words have been silenced for some time. There have been protests for some things shown in the film and I have asked the director, if he can make any change, he needs. The film was censored, then there was no issue. We have no connection with any political party, I see politics as a service,” The manufacturer continued.
The film indirectly depicts events related to the Gujarat riots, which focuses on the backstory of Zaid Masood, painted by Sukumaran. The film seriously examines the alleged misuse of central agencies by the ruling party.
The social media handle of the Kerala Congress said that the film said what they call the “Sangh Agenda” to divide Kerala and control their strategic beaches and ports. BJP state secretary S Suresh said, “The film is not a political issue. Kerala BJP will not interfere in this. Film lovers have the freedom to watch and support the film.”
Meanwhile, producer Gopalan shared that the changes would spend a large amount from the changes, saying, “It is not known what technical difficulties they may have to face while making changes, because if it was to be converted into a certain theater, it will cost a lot. The film is running in 4000 cinema, so I estimate that I have to spend for at least Rs 40 lakhs.”
“We don’t make films to hurt anyone. We want the audience to be happy,” the producer signed.
Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Emapuran also includes Towino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Abhimanyu Singh. It was released in theaters on 27 March.
