French President Emmanuel Macron talked about the country’s cultural representation in shows and movies in an interview. He praised the Netflix show, Emily in Paris, in which his wife Brigitte Macron also recently made a cameo. Macron commented on the show’s storyline shifting from Paris to Rome in the upcoming season.

Macron said, “I was very proud, and she was very happy to do it. It’s only a few minutes, but I think it was a very good moment for her. I think it’s good for the image of France. “Having Emily in Paris is very positive in terms of attraction for the country.”

Responding to the statement, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri shared a lighter take on Ax. He wrote, “Dear Emmanuel Macron, don’t worry: Emily is doing very well in Rome. And no one can control the heart: let’s let her choose (sic).” Later in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he commented on the same and said, “I hope Macron was joking, because he should know that a production company like Netflix doesn’t take orders from heads of state.”

In Season 4 of Emily in Paris, Emily meets her new love in Rome and explores the city with him. Impressed once again by her skills, her boss in the Paris office decided to start a Rome branch with Emily leading the agency in the new city. Show creator Darren Star previously confirmed that Emily would be moving to Rome in the upcoming season.
