However, he also pointed out the negative aspect of social media and said that anyone with a phone and a camera can now behave like a paparazzi. He said that people can buy followers, views and likes and claimed that he has seen both business personalities and people from the film industry doing the same.

Preeti clarified that she doesn’t judge others for using such strategies, but it’s not something she personally believes in.
He further talked about fake news and recalled the rumors that surfaced after his visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela.
Addressing the controversy, she wrote, “Some time ago I had gone to the Maha Kumbh Mela and suddenly this fabricated news came about me that I had taken a loan of Rs 18 crore and had not returned it and blah blah blah. Some journalist wrote about it, another journalist copied that post and it spread like wildfire.”
He said that despite repeatedly clarifying that the reports were false, people continued to question him about it and make comments online.

The controversy centered on allegations that Preity Zinta had a loan of Rs 18 crore “Writ off” from New India Cooperative Bank under suspicious circumstances. In early 2025, political opponents of the BJP claimed that the loan was waived off in exchange for promoting political narratives on social media.
Zinta dismissed the claims as “fake news” and a smear campaign. He clarified that though he had an overdraft facility with the bank years ago, he had paid off his dues and closed the account long before the controversy started.
