Patriot, one of the biggest films of Malayalam cinema, is going to hit the big screens soon. This much-awaited film seems to be making a bang at the box office, which can be gauged from its advance booking. Full advance sales of the Patriot opened at 9am today, four days ahead of its release, and early reports are phenomenal.
The espionage action thriller directed by Mahesh Narayanan recorded stellar advance sales of Rs. Earning Rs. 6 crores at the worldwide box office in a short time. Out of this approximately Rs. 2 crore advances were recorded in Kerala alone. It took just 5 hours and 54 minutes to cross the Rs. 2 crore mark in his home ground. At least this is a big start. If the film manages to maintain this momentum in the coming days, the film has the potential to re-establish box office records and set new standards.
Patriot is undoubtedly the biggest film in Malayalam cinema this year, both in scale and star cast. It is likely to challenge the top grossers of Malayalam cinema – Loka Chapter One: Chandra, L2: Empuraan, Thoodaram, Vaazha 2, Manjummel Boys, and others. For those unaware, Patriot stars two Mollywood legends Mammootty and Mohanlal in the lead roles. Apart from the two veterans, the film also stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Revathi, Darshan, Indrans and others.
If the film is successful in garnering positive response, it will shatter box office records. It will be interesting to see how the film performs at the box office.
